Discover how to transform big ideas into real results by studying at the creative intersection between three disciplines. By engaging with researchers and industry leaders, you’ll apply abstract knowledge to pressing problems, graduating as an informed thinker with a job-ready skill set.
The study of politics and governance addresses important questions about the nature of power, authority and governance: who gets what, when and how. Yet politics is more than this and concerns notions of freedom and agency in situations of social choice. Politics and governance is an excellent discipline for learning about the interrelationships in the human world, and for acquiring a diverse range of interpretive, analytic skills. The discipline is engaged in critical debates about governance, policy creation and administration, social behaviour and political action including electoral processes, as well as the management or resolution of conflict, including relations between states. In this specialisation you will analyse government, policy and leadership, debates about development, international relations and the political economy of globalisation and global governance; make comparative analyses of political systems operating in different countries around the globe; and critically assess the ideas and ideologies shaping contemporary visions of just societies.
