Traumatic experiences, prolonged suffering, and developmental or existential crises can profoundly affect psychological and physical health, manifesting as relationship issues, eating disorders, depression, or anxiety.Counselling and psychotherapy encompass evidence-based talking therapies that apply established theories to foster psychological change. This course equips you for careers in mental health, helping professions, or roles requiring strong communication and teamwork. Annually, alongside core psychology, you'll study specialised counselling modules, mastering approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Person-Centred therapies through theoretical concepts and practical skills such as empathetic listening and non-judgmental questioning. Skills are developed via triad role-plays, with 90 hours of practice plus personal/professional development and self-care training.
