About the course

This design-led course, based in the prestigious School of Architectural, Building and Civil Engineering, builds a strong foundation in engineering principles for application in architectural projects. It merges architectural creativity with engineering rigour to produce sustainable built environments, where Architectural Engineers manage the full process from concept to construction, integrating architecture, environmental design, and structural engineering for iconic, resilient structures.Students engage in interactive studies of environmental, structural, and architectural design, combining traditional topics like building materials and physics with humanistic elements through integrated projects. Industrial exposure includes site visits, field trips, and contributions from expert practitioners; MEng students may also undertake European study trips. The MEng deepens skills via major projects and advanced topics, while the shorter BEng focuses on fundamentals, offering a quicker path to industry or further specialisation, with transfer options based on performance. Assessment involves coursework, designs, essays, presentations, and exams, developing skills from sketching to BIM and analysis.
