Fine Art, BA (Hons)

As a developing artist, you will explore, define, and refine your specialism in fine art while deepening your critical understanding of art's societal role. Informed by personal interests and historical, contemporary, social, political, cultural, environmental, and technological contexts, you will position your work strategically.In purpose-built studio communities, you will access facilities for painting, printmaking, sculpture, performance, and digital practices, with an emphasis on materials and critical synthesis of thinking and making. Guided by experienced educators and practicing artists through studio teaching, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and critiques, you will pursue individual interests, acquire creative and technical strategies for sustainable practice, collaborate experimentally, and challenge boundaries. Exhibition projects will build essential skills, networks, and lifelong contacts. Regular visits to nearby institutions like Leeds Art Gallery, Henry Moore Institute, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and The Hepworth, plus national and international trips such as the Venice Biennale, enrich your experience.
