La Trobe University's Bachelor of Outdoor and Sustainability Education provides immersive experiences beyond the classroom, offering hands-on outdoor training and a comprehensive understanding of sustainability and environmental education.Students can develop their outdoor adventure skills through nature exploration, including over 70 days of field trips and extended journeys focused on climate change research and experiential learning. Activities like bushwalking and kayaking prepare participants to lead groups in outdoor environments while fostering skills in outdoor education. The program also examines the social and scientific aspects of sustainability, incorporating Indigenous perspectives, to promote respect for the environment and equip students to manage and teach outdoor programs.
This major provides a unique opportunity for students to study the global challenge of anthropogenic climate change from a diverse range of disciplines, including law, economics, public health and archaeology. This major is available across a wide range of undergraduate degrees (as an optional second major) and is offered entirely online.
