Our Bachelor of Orthoptics (Honours) emphasises clinical experience to equip you for a rewarding career as an orthoptist. You will study the anatomy and physiology of the eye to gain insights into vision and visual function, while learning to assist individuals with eye conditions such as strabismus, eye diseases, and low vision.Clinical placements begin in your first year and form a core component of the program. We collaborate with industry partners to provide hands-on training in hospitals and private clinics, where you will master specialised equipment like retinal cameras and ultrasonography machines. In your final year, opportunities arise for placements in regional Victoria, interstate, or overseas, including in developing countries where your skills are most needed.
