About the course

This course, endorsed by the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), offers the CIMSPA Coaching Assistant qualification upon successful completion of the first year. Modules develop coaching philosophy and physical education teaching practice, supported by Kingston University's Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold rating across overall, student experience, and outcomes categories. The practical programme builds coaching skills alongside the science of performance, leadership, and analysis, with access to advanced equipment for physiological and movement assessments. Topics include psychology, motivation, physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and notational analysis, culminating in a project or dissertation. Embedded Future Skills—such as problem-solving, digital competency, and adaptability—prepare graduates for sport development and coaching roles in public/private sectors, elite competitions, grassroots sport, or progression to PGCE Secondary Teaching in Physical Education.
