This course provides a comprehensive introduction to world archaeology, encompassing a broad array of social and scientific methods for teaching and training. Students can tailor their studies through diverse modules in British, European, and global archaeology, focusing on regions like Europe, the Near East, North Africa, and South and East Asia. This allows for the development of specialized knowledge and potential professional accreditation from the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. Advanced training in skills such as data analysis, remote sensing, GIS, materials analysis, 3D modelling, and heritage practices is offered through practical, lab, and field-based options.In the first year, foundational intellectual and practical skills are established. Subsequent years involve deeper exploration of topics and methods, culminating in an independent research dissertation. Assessment includes coursework, presentations, practical exercises, and fieldwork, with the dissertation comprising one-third of final-year marks.
