About the course

Deakin's combined Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion with Bachelor of Commerce equips students to apply commercial expertise in the expanding health sector or health knowledge in business environments. As the only Victorian university accredited by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE), graduates gain a globally recognised commerce qualification and the ability to address real-world challenges through hands-on experience in health agencies. This program builds strong commercial, personal, and professional skills, allowing specialisation in one of eight commerce areas, preparing you for diverse careers at the intersection of health and business. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of social and environmental factors influencing health, exploring strategies to enhance population wellbeing. Through community engagement, research, policy development, and health communication, students develop transferable skills applicable across settings. Graduates are ready for roles such as community development officer, health promotion officer, or medical marketing manager in government, corporate, or private sectors, with opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration and exposure to various health professions.
