About the course

Pharmacists are experts in drugs and medicines, often prescribing independently, and contribute across the spectrum from discovery to patient supply while optimizing therapy. This offers diverse career paths in hospitals, community practice, industry, research, and beyond in the UK or internationally. Our four-year MPharm programme covers drug discovery, development, chemical, physicochemical, pharmacological, and toxicological properties; clinical uses; the pharmacist's role among healthcare professionals; and disease pathophysiology and management. Delivered in a research-led environment with leading labs and postgraduate courses, it meets General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) accreditation and QAA benchmarks, preparing graduates for postgraduate training or careers in health, science, or education. Housed in the historic Redwood Building, our long-established School fosters a supportive atmosphere, with highly rated staff (REF 2014), practitioner involvement, student societies, resource access, skill development, professional engagement, ERASMUS exchanges, placements, and a final-year research poster day.
