About the course

This degree emphasizes academic and analytical skills in journalism and communications, while incorporating practical elements. Students will create portfolios, including digital ones, hone journalistic writing across platforms like online, broadcast, print, and magazines, pitch editorial ideas, and utilize software for graphics, blogs, apps, and social media campaigns. Over three years, a structured path culminates in a journalism-based dissertation, fostering abilities in research, writing, critiquing, and independent or group work. The course also builds awareness of economic and practical forces in media, cultural, and creative industries, preparing graduates for communication-focused careers.Drawing on expertise in journalism and media studies from national and international perspectives, the program benefits from a dynamic communications environment. Distinctive features include studying in a top-rated school (Guardian's ranking for Journalism and Public Relations, 2016-2017), a vibrant Journalism Society, Welsh-medium seminars in year one, Erasmus and Study Abroad opportunities, and career workshops. Note that this is an academic course and does not offer vocational journalism training.
