About the course

In an increasingly computer-dependent world, businesses and organizations rely heavily on computing expertise. Mathematics, as the language of computer science, equips graduates with versatile skills for diverse careers across sectors. This single honours degree develops mathematical and statistical knowledge, applying it to problems in computing, business, and beyond. Approximately two-thirds focuses on mathematics and statistics, emphasizing modern algebra relevant to computer science, numerical analysis, and Level 3 specializations like encryption for internet transactions. The four-year Professional Placement programme offers well-paid placements with blue-chip companies in areas such as accountancy, aviation, banking, defence, finance, insurance, IT, management, marketing, and telecommunications. The programme meets educational requirements for the Chartered Mathematician designation from the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, supplemented by post-graduation training and experience.
