Brunel's BEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Computer Systems) is a contemporary programme designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for careers and research in electronic and electrical engineering, with a focus on embedded systems. It fosters understanding of engineering, scientific, and economic trade-offs in embedded system design and implementation, alongside hands-on experience with architectural techniques, design methodologies, FPGAs, and reconfigurable computing principles. Students explore core engineering disciplines—including design, structures, materials, fluid mechanics, electronics, mathematics, and technical drawing—while specialising in computer systems to develop systems based on scientific and economic considerations.Access to state-of-the-art facilities, such as computer, electronics, power, and control laboratories, plus industry-standard software in dedicated clusters, supports practical experimentation. Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the degree meets academic requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and can be completed full-time in three years or four with a placement year, which we strongly encourage for invaluable industry experience.
