Sports Coaching and Physical Education, BSc (Hons)

This course equips graduates with essential pedagogical skills for coaching athletes of varying ages and abilities, as well as delivering the full Physical Education curriculum in primary and secondary schools. Upon completion, opportunities arise for employment in sports coaching or school settings, or for pursuing postgraduate studies, such as a PGCE in Physical Education. Participants will cultivate a strong coaching and teaching philosophy, gain insights into industry and cultural influences on sport, and apply theoretical knowledge through practical experiences.The programme aligns with the National Curriculum for Physical Education, covering contemporary topics in health and education, including diverse aspects of well-being. Hands-on placements in coaching or school environments enhance employability, while students benefit from facilities at the university's extended campus in Edgbaston and the world-class Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, featuring advanced sports laboratories and resources.
