About the course

The BA (Hons) in English integrates creative and critical elements, blending personal, social, historical, and contemporary perspectives. In the School of English, students are taught by esteemed academics and practitioners through a wide array of modules in literary studies, linguistics, creative writing, and drama. This programme allows for personalised study paths aligned with individual interests and career ambitions, while promoting both local and global viewpoints. An optional professional placement year is available, enabling students to spend a full year with an employer after completing their second year. This experience helps explore career options, with some students returning to the same employer post-graduation. Participants must secure a relevant placement using the University’s extensive employer networks and careers support, then request transfer to the placement version of the course. Note that fees for this year amount to 20% of the full-time course fee.
