Education Studies, BA (Hons)

Education is pivotal to societal development, and our BA (Hons) Education Studies course examines its theoretical and practical dimensions across the lifespan, from birth to lifelong learning, through diverse perspectives. Students critically analyze the aims, values, principles, and policies of UK and global education systems, drawing on disciplines such as psychology, sociology, law, history, philosophy, and politics to explore key issues and their contributions to education worldwide. This multidisciplinary approach broadens knowledge and prepares graduates for varied careers.Central themes include education's role in promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion; its place in a globalized world; technology's impact on educational evolution; and employability through academic and professional skills. Students develop personal educational values, engage with edtech, evaluate international influences, and complete a second-year placement for hands-on experience. The course fosters a supportive, challenging environment to cultivate independent, confident lifelong learners who realize their full potential.
