About the course

Our BA (Hons) Applied Theatre programme inspires the next generation of passionate, skilled theatre-makers. It develops the essential skills and understanding needed to create compelling performances and purposeful theatre projects, addressing not only how theatre is made but also why.The course offers an optional professional placement year after successful completion of year two, enabling a full year with an employer to explore career paths—many students return to the same employer post-graduation. Students must secure a suitable placement aligned with their studies, drawing on the University’s extensive local, regional, and national employer network and Careers team support. Upon securing a placement, transfer to the placement version of the course is possible. Fees apply during the placement year, equivalent to 20% of the full-time course fee.
