About the course

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics, offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences, requires formal admission with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 and departmental approval. Students must complete 120 credit hours with a 2.00 GPA, including college writing and university mathematics requirements, as well as general education comprising ten courses across five foundational areas, with at least one lab science in the natural and mathematical sciences category.Major requirements include 53 credit hours, with 38 in core courses such as Introduction to Computer Science, Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, Probability, and various statistics courses. Students select one of two tracks: Mathematical Statistics (15 credits in advanced statistics and math) or Applied Statistics (15 credits in math/statistics and a related field). A combined BS and MS in Statistics is available for students with a 3.20 GPA in major courses, including completion of Probability and Introduction to Mathematical Statistics by the end of their junior year.
