To address issues of crime, delinquency, law, and social control effectively and equitably, the criminal justice system requires college-educated professionals skilled in analytical thinking and compassionate action. The B.S. in Criminal Justice program provides two concentrations, including the Social Science Concentration, designed for undergraduates pursuing an interdisciplinary liberal arts education integrated with criminal justice studies.Offered through the Department of Sociology, this concentration blends foundational liberal arts courses in sociology, anthropology, political science, and psychology with specialized topics such as criminal justice theory, practice, forensics, juvenile delinquency, and law and social inequality. Courses draw from various university units, including the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, the School of Social Work, and the Departments of Anthropology, Political Science, and Sociology, all within the College of Arts and Sciences.
