Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), established in 1885 as a specialist institution, is one of only fifteen higher education institutions in the UK devoted solely to the study of art, design and media.

The University has been providing specialist education for over a century and enjoys a strong reputation, both nationally and internationally. It was named No.1 Creative University in the Which? University 2012 survey. and in the same year also celebrated a 97.7% employment rate.

The university now operates eight Skillset accredited courses in Animation Production, Film Production, Digital Media Production, Photography, Commercial Photography, Makeup for Media and Performance, Graphic Design and Modelmaking.

Campuses

Students are based within one campus which is located in Wallisdown, Poole. The campus houses specialist workshops and workspaces, as well as a purpose-built library supplies material to support the courses taught. The university also boasts a contemporary arts gallery, and also the Enterprise Pavilion which provides business incubation units for graduates from the university and other higher education providers. Simon Beaufoy Screenwriter of Slumdog Millionaire & Full Monty
Simon Beaufoyis a British screenwriter who graduated from Arts University Bournemouth. In 1997 he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for The Full Monty, and went on to win the 2009 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Slumdog Millionaire as well as winning a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award.

Wolfgang Tillmans Photographer
Wolfgang Tillmans is a German fine-art photographer whose diverse body of work is distinguished by observation of his surroundings and an ongoing investigation of the photographic medium’s foundations. In 2000, Tillmans was the first photographer to be awarded the Tate annual Turner Prize. He was at Bournemouth from 1990-1992.
