More about Performing Arts
If you find yourself gazing in awe at the recherché architecture of sprawling theatres, savouring the bouquet of aromas inside – an infusion of lacquered wood, new upholstery, and a recent paint job - and imagining yourself dancing and delivering your lines with eloquence and aplomb under the glare of bright lights, the stage has been set for your entry...into a degree programme in the Performing Arts, that is.
Performing Arts is physical flair, creativity, beauty, expression, technique, evocation, inspiration - the use of the body as a medium to tell stories and captivate audiences in interpretive worlds that transcend the stage.
The scope of the field includes dance, theatre, music, musical theatre, opera and storytelling. In a Performing Arts degree programme, you will take modules such as Principles of Performance, Politics and Performance, New Media Performance, Performance and Identity, and Art, Music and Theatre.
Naturally, there will be plenty of opportunities to shine in practical training sessions and apprenticeships as well - most Performing Arts degree curriculums dedicate a significant proportion of credit requirements to practicum components.
So, if you’re going to make a grand entrance, start with university and move your way towards that degree programme in the Performing Arts.
