Environmental Science
More about Environmental Science
The environment is a key concern in this century that we live in. There is an ever-growing need to fully study and comprehend the environment like never before.
Environmental Science combines biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics to acquire a greater understanding of how our environment works as a whole. Ultimately, this understanding would contribute solutions to many of the current environmental issues we face.
For example, Earth’s human population has seen the largest increase in history during the last century; this has caused devastating effects on the environment. Besides food and fish stock, non-renewable resources, such as fossil fuels have been depleted. This consumption is lop-sided with inequity in the amount of resources used by developed versus developing countries. Environmental Science offers the opportunity to study and work with these controversial topics.
As a student of Environmental Science, you may work on subjects like the understanding of earth processes, evaluating alternative energy systems, pollution control and mitigation, natural resource management, and the effects of global climate change.
With the increasing emphasis on environmental impact and a growing concern for the environment, students of Environmental Science can be prepared for careers in industry, consulting, research, conservationists, educators, and academics.
