This structured programme integrates rigorous linguistic training with career-oriented flexibility. The curriculum advances through three phases: foundational core linguistics courses in Years One and Two, followed by specialised optional modules in Years Three and Four tailored to professional goals.Its strengths include defined career pathways in technology (AI/computational linguistics), healthcare (speech therapy), public sector (policy/intelligence), and creative industries (publishing/media). Students customise studies via module combinations, such as Psycholinguistics with Language Pathology for clinical roles, Computational Linguistics with Corpus Linguistics for tech positions, or Language Education with Bilingual and Multilingual Development for education. Participants gain advanced linguistic expertise for practical applications in education, communication, policy, and technology; hone critical thinking, intercultural awareness, and professional skills; explore language's societal role and contemporary theories; build research, data analysis, and global communication abilities; and earn dual degrees—an XJTLU qualification recognised by China's Ministry of Education and a University of Liverpool degree from the Russell Group.
