Students will enhance their music knowledge, technical skills, and creativity through hands-on practice, cultural analysis, and critical listening, exploring a diverse array of musical styles. Key areas of study include music performance, theory, songwriting and arranging, popular music culture and history, and music technology.Set in Melbourne, renowned as one of the world's premier live-music cities, the program offers numerous performance opportunities. Participants will engage in collaborative projects with fellow VU students, collaborate with local industry professionals and community organizations, and access state-of-the-art music technology and commercial recording facilities at Kindred Studios. All students must be proficient in reading music notation, with prior music performance experience or professional work potentially qualifying for advanced standing and course credits.
