About the course

Our BA History of Art offers three distinctive and complementary years of study in the history of art and architecture. The programme begins with a year-long introduction to art history, followed by comprehensive training in its discipline and practice during years two and three. Its interdisciplinary approach fosters your existing skills and interests through close ties with departments and centres in the Faculties of Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences. You will explore a diverse array of art and architecture from regions including Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, North Africa, and South and Southeast Asia, spanning from the late antique to the contemporary era.As a traditional humanities subject with strong vocational elements, it develops valuable transferable skills. We maintain partnerships with local, regional, national, and international arts organisations, extending beyond museums and galleries to include country houses, maritime museums, and churches. These collaborations enrich our teaching and research, providing you with direct benefits from these institutional links.
