The BEng (Hons) in Automotive Engineering provides a solid foundation in mathematics, design, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering. Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), it fulfills part of the academic criteria for registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, enhancing professional credentials and employability. Students explore topics such as automotive manufacturing, engine systems, vehicle dynamics, materials, structures, and safety, while gaining practical experience through testing designs in our facilities and investigating self-selected engineering problems. They also develop skills in project management and report writing.Through interactions with industry experts, factory visits, and professional briefings from leading automotive organizations, students build industry insights. Opportunities include work placements in product development, vehicle dynamics, design, and manufacturing, as well as competing in events like the UWE Formula Student team. Graduates can pursue careers in automotive design, manufacturing, maintenance, or sustainable transport research. Based on second-year performance, students may transfer to the four-year MEng Automotive Engineering for a master’s degree. This program is recognized by professional bodies such as the Engineering Council and IMechE.
