94% of research in Biological Sciences at the University of Sussex was rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).The Neuroscience MSci (also available as a three-year BSc) explores cutting-edge discoveries in the brain and nervous system within the supportive School of Life Sciences community. Topics include molecular and cellular neurobiology, development and genetics, neurophysiology, behaviour, and brain disorders. From Year 1, students gain hands-on lab experience through experiments, workshops, and skills in computing, programming, data analysis, and communication. As the UK's first university to offer a neurobiology degree, Sussex hosts over 50 research groups spanning vision, consciousness, AI, and behaviour. Graduates acquire data-handling and analytical skills for careers in biotechnology, NHS/healthcare, academic research, science writing, publishing, or engagement.
