This course provides an in-depth exploration of criminal behaviour, the legal system, and approaches to violent offending, including murder, terrorism, stalking, cybercrime, and sexual offences. Graduates can pursue roles supporting prisoners, offenders, and victims, while offering forensic expertise to suspects, witnesses, and victims within the Criminal Justice System. It integrates the five core areas of psychology as defined by the British Psychological Society (BPS) in a practical manner, enhancing relevance to future careers in forensic psychology.Students will investigate the application of psychology to serious and violent crimes, alongside hands-on training in using psychometric tests, interpreting risk assessments, conducting case formulations, evaluating police interviews, writing parole reports, presenting as an expert witness in court, and designing empirical research.
