About the course

The BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism programme at Sunderland equips students for careers as fashion journalists or stylists. Participants will master key skills including editorial styling, catwalk reporting, trend forecasting, studio photoshoots, and the history of iconic designers like Chanel and McQueen. Students will produce a glossy fashion magazine or website and collaborate with the Fashion North editorial team, while developing expertise in areas such as street style photography, podcasting, social media storytelling, and beauty and video journalism.Guided by industry experts, the course offers publishing opportunities, fashion trips, and the opportunity to earn the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Diploma. Hands-on experience includes placements with prestigious outlets like Sunday Times Style, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, Elle, ASOS, and Glamour. Those with prior qualifications, such as an HNC, HND, Foundation Degree, or partial degree in a relevant field, may enter at Stage 2 or 3.
