Do you find joy in numbers as others do in music, poetry, or art? Are you passionate about applying mathematics to explain real-world phenomena and solve complex problems?Mathematical education builds essential skills and broad analytical abilities that are highly valued across professions, with growing demand for graduates who can effectively apply quantitative expertise. This course offers this desirable blend through its innovative teaching methods and emphasis on practical applications of mathematical and statistical techniques. For instance, students utilise mathematics computing laboratories for an experimental approach alongside theoretical study. Our Computing Science and Mathematics division fosters a supportive environment with active research in areas like biology, economics, and life sciences, including combined Honours degrees. Additionally, participation in the international Mathematical Contest in Modelling—where Stirling teams have ranked in the top 9%—and involvement in the student-run Mathematics Society provide opportunities to develop research, leadership, and team skills. Applied Mathematics is also available as a specialism.
