About the course

This program provides a comprehensive understanding of physics principles, with a strong emphasis on Quantum Mechanics, Optics, and Information. It explores the interactions between quantum principles, modern photonics, and nanoscale objects, equipping students with a solid foundation for a career in physics and developing transferable skills applicable to diverse professions. Core subjects include Electricity and Magnetism, Quantum Physics, and Atomic Physics, alongside a variety of optional modules. For MPhys programs, assessments in the first and second years combine unseen written examinations, problem-based coursework, and laboratory work. In the third year, evaluation is primarily through examinations, with alternative methods for laboratory, computer-based, and dissertation modules as needed. The fourth year replaces lab work with a project assessed via continuous evaluation, written reports, and an oral examination.

What you will learn

You’ll study core physics subjects such as Electricity and Magnetism; Quantum Physics; Atomic Physics; alongside a wide range of optional modules.
