This joint BA in Philosophy and English explores profound questions such as the existence of God, morality, and human identity through philosophical and literary lenses. Students will deepen their understanding by studying diverse eras and regions, from Viking to Victorian times and Eastern to African contexts, while addressing topics like ethics, reason, and cultural narratives in American literature. The programme includes a placement year at universities in Europe, Asia, or North America, and utilises advanced digital humanities facilities, including virtual reality and 3D technology, to enhance research and exploration.The course offers a range of modules, such as Ethics, Mind and World, and The Novel, allowing students to customise their studies. Learning occurs through lectures, tutorials, and independent work, with assessments including essays, debates, presentations, and exams. Personal academic tutors provide ongoing support and feedback to foster improvement.
