Southampton’s Neuroscience degree will give you the skills to become a highly-motivated, talented neuroscientist.Your four-year integrated masters covers the breadth of disciplines encompassing molecular, cellular and systems neuroscience, neuroimmunology, neurodegeneration and neuropharmacology.Through expert training and guidance in subjects as diverse as cell biology, genetics and biochemistry, you will become well equipped with the fundamental sciences to tackle this truly interdisciplinary subject matter. You will build on the foundation of biomedical sciences in year one, with increasing neuroscience specialisation through successive years. This culminates in the final-year in an extensive individual research project, supported by a unique ‘Advanced Neuroscience’ module in which leading researchers give master classes, preparing you for a neuroscience career.You can spend a year working in the pharmaceutical industry between years two and three. Also, opportunities available to spend a semester at a partner university aboard during year two.This course provides an ideal stepping stone to scientific or clinically-related postgraduate research, or careers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Graduates will also be well-equipped to study postgraduate medicine.
