Combining French with Politics allows you to take your interest in politics to degree level whilst studying one of Europe's most widely spoken native languages. This programme will provide you with an overarching learning environment solidly rooted politics and political debates as well as in key disciplinary contexts such as politics, socio-historical studies, ethnography and cultural studies which are all central to the understanding of other societies and culture. The flexible curriculum enables you to balance your choice of modules according to your own interests. You will study modules relating to political theory, comparative politics and international relations, while on the French side of your degree you will study language and select from a range of modules on the culture, literature and history of the French-speaking world. The Centre for Language Study at Southampton has everything you need.You'll be immersed in international experiences, and get to know foreign cultures first hand by spending a year abroad, either as a student at a partner university or in a work placement. Our digital humanities facilities will allow you to study and research through cutting-edge technology, such as virtual reality, 3D scanners and printers, and a 360 degree fully immersive audio-visual centre.
