This degree in modern languages and philosophy enhances your French, German, or Spanish skills alongside analytical and critical thinking. With 96% of graduates employed or in further study within 15 months (Graduate Outcomes 2020/2021), the four-year program includes a year abroad for workplace, teaching, or university placements. You'll explore the history, thought, and cultures of French-, German-, or Spanish-speaking societies while engaging with ethics, metaphysics, political philosophy, and practical applications. Even if you haven't studied the language before, additional teaching and funding support rapid progress by the end of year one.Throughout the degree, you'll study philosophy modules like Ethics, Mind and World, and Political Philosophy, alongside language-focused topics such as Language Acquisition and Globalisation. Assessment involves lectures, tutorials, coursework, projects, and independent learning, allowing you to tailor your focus and build expertise in areas like contemporary society, literature, and history.

You will study both philosophy and your chosen language of French, German or Spanish throughout your degree. You can choose what to focus on for both parts of your degree.
