About the course

This four-year dual language degree allows you to develop proficiency in two modern languages—French, German, Portuguese, or Spanish—while deepening your knowledge of the societies and cultures where they are spoken. With a 96% employment or further study rate for graduates (Graduate Outcomes 2020/2021), the programme includes a year abroad on a workplace, teaching, or university placement to enhance language skills, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. Even if you select a new language, additional teaching hours and funding for an end-of-year course abroad support rapid progress, enabling immersion in linguistic practices and the interpretation of cultural beliefs and behaviours. You can tailor your studies through core and optional modules, such as Applications of Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, and Audiovisual Translation, focusing on areas like contemporary society, literature, and history. Assessment involves lectures, classes, tutorials, coursework, individual and group projects, and independent learning, allowing you to build expertise aligned with your interests.
