This flexible integrated Masters course focuses on the exploration and understanding of human disease at all levels. It combines biochemistry, physiology, neuroscience, cell biology, genetics and pharmacology. Our biomedical science graduates are in demand in a variety of areas of employment in medicine and healthcare-related professions, or clinical or medical research. Southampton’s biomedical science researchers are making a significant impact on today’s society by investigating potential cures for Alzheimer’s, discovering the causes of cystic fibrosis and improving our understanding and treatment of cancer.Your four-year degree will allow you to join a pioneering community who will share their expertise, allowing you to focus on aspects of physiology and/or biochemistry to research level.You will complete an extensive laboratory-based research project in the heart of our state-of-the-art Life Sciences building and research groups. We will offer you an opportunity for a year in employment placement, for those who want to gain experience in an industrial setting.
