About the course

This integrated Master's degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics covers core subjects related to fast-moving aircraft and spacecraft in Earth's atmosphere and beyond. The first two years focus on foundational engineering science, including aerodynamics, propulsion systems, mechanics of flight, fluid dynamics, and control, providing essential skills for designing and operating air vehicles and spacecraft. In the third year, students deepen their knowledge of aircraft design and environmental impacts through an individual project. The fourth year includes advanced aerospace engineering modules and a group design project to address real-world challenges. Students access extensive facilities, such as wind tunnels and flight simulators, and may undertake an industrial placement year to boost employability. The program is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society and Institution of Mechanical Engineers, offering a route to chartered status. Typical modules span topics like introduction to aeronautics, materials, and advanced design, with assessment via exams, coursework, reports, and projects.
