It explores the social processes that shape individuals, groups, and institutions, while examining key dimensions of social differentiation such as gender, class, race, age, sexuality, and education. Students will engage with theoretical concepts and apply them to areas like crime, media, politics, and education, fostering insights into addressing modern social issues. Interactive small-group teaching emphasises discussion and debate, enhancing awareness of how societies influence individuals and vice versa, as well as the complexities of social problems and policy solutions.The programme develops a range of social scientific skills, including data analysis, persuasive argumentation, and effective communication, preparing graduates for careers in local and central government, charities, and commercial sectors.
