Our BA in Politics and Economics with Placement Year at the University of Reading offers a four-year programme delivered by the School of Politics and International Relations and the Department of Economics. Students develop a comprehensive understanding of global political and economic issues, building a strong foundation in topics such as comparative government, political theory, international relations, contemporary democracy, macroeconomics, microeconomics, economic institutions, and social policy. The course emphasises applying economic tools to real-world markets and problems, while incorporating theories like game theory and behavioural experiments to analyse societal challenges.This programme includes an integrated professional placement between the second and final year, designed to enhance employability and professional networks. Supported by a dedicated coordinator, it features core modules such as Politics of Climate Change, Introduction to Contemporary Democracy, and Intermediate Microeconomics, subject to final approval for 2025/26.
