Our BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics is a historic interdisciplinary programme, long favoured by aspiring leaders and policymakers. At the University of Reading, philosophy studies develop critical thinking skills, enabling students to analyse arguments rigorously and explore key principles, concepts, and texts. Instruction from renowned experts focuses on areas like moral philosophy, mind, language, and non-Western traditions such as Indian philosophy.In politics, students gain a solid foundation in core concepts like political ideologies and democratic systems, with options in modules on British governance, European integration, and political theory. Economics emphasises practical applications and societal impacts, with a reduced focus on advanced maths and statistics; essential quantitative skills are taught with ample support. The programme allows study of all three subjects in the first year, with flexibility to specialise in two or continue with all in subsequent years, primarily through interactive seminars.
