About the course

Our joint honours BA in Philosophy and Politics invites you to explore core concepts of truth, reality, ethics, and political theory, while developing skills in philosophical argumentation. At the University of Reading, philosophy studies will enhance your logical thinking, critical analysis, and understanding of key principles, texts, and figures, guided by experts in moral philosophy, mind, and language. In your first year, you will build foundational skills, then delve deeper in later years with modules such as Contemporary Political Philosophy, the History of Political Philosophy, and non-Western traditions like Indian philosophy.Politics modules provide a solid foundation in political ideas, democratic systems, and topics including British government, European integration, and political thinking. Taught in small, interactive seminars, the programme ensures personalised attention and encourages debate. What you will learn

The following modules have been approved in principle for delivery in 2025/26.
