About the course

Our BSc Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a Year in Industry or Research degree enables you to apply chemistry and biology knowledge to pharmaceutical practice, while gaining essential industry experience. This four-year programme includes a year-long professional placement or research project between your second and final years. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, it aims to produce skilled graduates for a sector that employs 67,000 people in the UK and contributes £30.4 billion annually to the economy. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in core chemistry and biology, extending to advanced topics in pharmaceutical chemistry, including areas beyond traditional organic chemistry to meet industry demands.Key modules, subject to final approval, include Fundamentals of Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Polymers in Nature and Industry, Solid State Chemistry, and practical chemistry sessions.
