Our BA Modern Languages programme allows you to specialise in one language or combine two or three from French, German, Italian, and Spanish, starting at beginner, intermediate, or advanced levels. This flexible course develops fluency and intercultural skills through language modules and cultural studies, including literature, cinema, history, politics, and linguistics. Depending on your choices, you can incorporate additional languages such as Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese (Mandarin), Modern Greek, Japanese, or Russian. With 98% of students rating teaching staff highly for explanations (National Student Survey, 2023), the programme includes a Year Abroad and various cultural modules tailored to your specialisation.Core modules for 2025/26 encompass language studies in your selected languages, subject to final approval.
