Our BA in Modern Languages and International Relations offers a dynamic opportunity to study a core language—such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish—while exploring global challenges in international relations. This flexible programme includes optional introductory modules in languages like Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese (Mandarin), or Modern Greek, subject to availability. Delivered by experts from the Departments of Languages and Cultures and Politics and International Relations, students develop transferable skills with an international emphasis, joining a vibrant, multilingual community at the University of Reading.Guided by internationally recognised researchers in areas like migration, literature, and linguistics, you'll benefit from outstanding teaching—98% of students rated staff highly in the 2023 National Student Survey.
