Study a modern language and explore the depth of human experiences through our BA in Modern Languages and History at the University of Reading. This flexible programme allows you to focus on core languages such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish, while incorporating history studies. Optional introductory modules in languages like Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese (Mandarin), Modern Greek, or Japanese are available, subject to approval. Taught by experts from the Departments of Languages and Cultures and History, you will develop globally oriented transferable skills and join a vibrant, multilingual community of international students.Learn from renowned researchers with expertise in migration, literature, cinema, linguistics, and more. In the 2023 National Student Survey, 98% of students praised teaching clarity in Languages and Cultures, and 100% of our research holds international standing (Research Excellence Framework 2021).
