Enhance your understanding of the planet's most influential microorganisms and contribute to globally significant research through our BSc Microbiology with Professional Experience programme. This four-year degree incorporates a year-long professional placement between the second and final years, allowing you to apply knowledge in real-world settings. You will explore the core properties, genetics, and physiology of diverse microbes, with options to specialise in areas such as medical, environmental, or food microbiology. The curriculum emphasises practical techniques including microbial genetics, biochemistry, and propagation, culminating in a three-month original research project in your final year.Sample modules may include Fundamentals of Microbiology, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, Infectious Diseases, Marine Biology and Conservation, Venoms and Poisons, and Evolution in Health and Disease.
