On our BA in French and International Development, you will enhance your French language skills while gaining a deep understanding of global cultural and developmental challenges. International development modules explore global issues like resources, climate, food systems, and populations, while teaching critical evaluation of policies and theories. The course offers supported study or work placements abroad to refine language abilities and immerse in Francophone culture. Core modules include Ideas of Frenchness 1, French language courses, How to Think in French, Identity and Conflict in Modern Europe, and Language and Power, subject to final approval.
The following modules have been approved in principle for delivery in 2025/26. Please note that as part of our current curriculum improvement process, all modules require final University approval and may be subject to change.
