About the course

Our BA Fine Art degree at Reading School of Art empowers students to develop their artistic abilities, refine personal practices, and explore innovative art forms while participating in exhibitions and events across the UK and internationally. You will build practical skills, delve into the theory and history of art, and engage with a strong emphasis on contemporary practices. This three-year program involves experimenting with media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital tools, promoting critical reflection to sustain your creative work. Dedicated studio spaces are available 24/7, along with regular events, workshops, and guidance from internationally respected staff—91% of whom students rated highly for explanations in the 2023 National Student Survey. We also offer a four-year BA Art degree for those with A-levels or equivalent qualifications but no foundation in Art and Design. Core modules include Art Studio, Drawing, History of Art 1 and 2, and Art Practice 1, subject to final approval for 2025/26. For further details, visit our programme page.
