About the course

On the BA English Literature and Film programme, students explore the interconnected mediums of written works and film, which have profoundly influenced modern culture. This interdisciplinary course involves collaboration between the English Literature and Film, Theatre & Television departments. The English Literature department has a longstanding tradition of studying global authors, including early pioneers in American and Canadian literature like Margaret Atwood, while offering a curriculum rich in contemporary global writing. Meanwhile, the Film, Theatre & Television department leads in film studies within UK higher education, providing a wide array of modules.Core modules for 2025/26, subject to final approval, include Theory and Practice of Writing, Poetry in English, Approaches to Television, Approaches to Film, and Film Forms and Cultures.
